CRUK Publish their 2016/17 Annual Review Highlights
A message from Katie, Cancer Ninjas Cancer Research UK liaison.
“I’m delighted to share with you our 2016/17 Annual Review Highlights. In this year’s review, we take a look at how we have been accelerating progress in our key strategic areas:
• Preventing cancer
• Diagnosing it earlier
• Developing new treatments
• Optimising current treatments to make them more effective
It’s because of your dedicated fundraising that we’re able to make these advances to beat cancer sooner.
You can read about the exciting year that we’ve had, including details of the Grand Challenge Awards which is funding four teams of world-leading pioneers, plus the Francis Crick Institute which was opened by Her Royal Majesty The Queen back in November.
We’re proud to continue to be the biggest funder of cancer research in the UK and I’m pleased to say that 80p of every £1 we receive is used to beat cancer. The remaining 20p goes towards raising more funds for the future. There is much more information online at the Annual Review webpages, which you can view by selecting the links in the annual review document itself.
On behalf of everyone at Cancer Research UK, I’d like to say a heartfelt ‘thank you’ for everything you do to support the work of Cancer Research UK. I hope we can do more together in the year ahead to make a big impact in moving towards 3 in 4 people surviving cancer by 2034. Together, we will beat cancer sooner.
