Who We Are

Hello, my name is Mike, and in 2011 cancer tried to take me, but I have survived thus far. Devastatingly in 2014, cancer came back and this time started on my beloved wife Sharon. Finally after an incredibly brave and inspirational fight, breast cancer won, and took Sharon’s life in December 2016, aged just 48. Sharon was my life, soulmate and superstar for over twenty-five years, and is missed more than words can ever express.

Cancer has also sadly taken several relations and partners of friends, as well as having a go at other family members and friends. Cancer has therefore changed my life forever, and may still yet decide to finish me off. Until then however, I very much want to help in any way that I can, to play my part in finding a cure for this wretched disease.

These tragic events were my reasons, for me to start raising money for cancer research, in memory of Sharon, and all those other friends and loved ones throughout the world, suffering with, or that have been lost to cancer. In May 2017, Cancer Ninjas was born, my hope and belief is that by all doing a little, together we can achieve a lot.

Fundraising for all cancers

Cancer Ninjas is a 'not for profit' fundraising initiative, to go out and raise vital funding for our supported charity, Cancer Research UK, the world’s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research. Perhaps in the future we may look to add additional cancer charities, but for now Cancer Research UK is our focus. We have also started on the process of becoming a registered charity ourselves.

We have chosen not to be specific in our fundraising to any particular type of cancer, but to put monies towards research into all types of cancer. Lavender is the colour for all cancer awareness, hence included in our logo.

All monies raised by our fellow ninjas, friends and supporters are donated to our supported charity. There are no middleman, just enthusiasm and a will to help fundraise as best we can. Furthermore, no costs are incurred for running Cancer Ninjas, these are either donated or covered personally. 100% of all ticketed event profits, sponsorships and donations, (less where applicable any secure payment portal card processing fees), go to help fund finding the cure for cancer.

Simply create or join an existing fundraising event and start making a real difference
We love new events! If you have an event idea, however silly or cool, big or small, please talk to us about it or create it now! It’s free to do so and 100% of the profits raised go to our supported charity.

Join our fight

Event fundraising and sponsorship pages are also hosted on our website to maximise charitable income, as the likes of JustGiving take a 5% fee if their site is utilised.

We hope that you too can be inspired to join our fight, and remember all those that are suffering with and have been lost to cancer, as I will Sharon, the most beautiful, kind and awesome woman and wife ever.

Thank you for reading this and for visiting the Cancer Ninjas website. If our collective efforts help save just one Sharon somewhere, then we will have succeeded.

As a survivor, someone who has been their loved ones carer, and now devastatingly a widower, this is a heartfelt and very personal ‘thank you’.

Stay well.

Mike
